Overview of the Role

The Director, Programs & Strategic Convenings is a pivotal, highimpact leadership role, the operational cornerstone and strategic architect of PICIs engagement and advancement strategy. The Director plans, executes, and follows up on premier convenings that cultivate ultrahighnetworth donors, engage institutional investors (including venture capital and corporate partners), and showcase the scientific and commercial impact of PICIs translational research and venture portfolio. The role demands meticulousness, strategic foresight, and sophisticated diplomacy across a diverse portfolio of engagementsfrom exclusive, confidential investor salons to multiday scientific retreats.

Reporting Structure and Team

The Director reports to the Chief Organizational Advancement Officer (COAO).

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Event Portfolio Design and Execution : Design, plan, and produce a comprehensive portfolio of highimpact, missioncritical events that align with PICIs strategic goals, including venture/investor showcases, stewardship dinners, and more.
  • Investor & VIP Experience Management : Serve as the primary liaison for event experiences involving ultrahighnetworth individuals, VCs, corporate partners, and pharmaceutical executives; ensure a flawless, confidential and highly personalized experience; develop briefing materials, personalized agendas, and bespoke experiences; oversee pre and postevent communication.
  • Content Strategy and Translation : Collaborate with the internal Venture, Science, and Communications teams to translate complex scientific data, clinical milestones, and commercialization strategies into compelling, accessible event programming and materials.
  • Fiscal and Project Management Leadership : Exercise full oversight of logistical elements (site selection, contract negotiation, A/V, catering, security, travel) and manage budgets often exceeding $500,000 per major event; develop and maintain a vendor network; implement project management systems for timelines and deliverables.
  • Global Reach and Digital Innovation : Execute complex virtual and hybrid events using cuttingedge technology; develop strategies to enhance digital event delivery and maximize reach across all formats.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive, demonstrably successful experience in highlevel event management, conference production, or institutional advancement.
  • Preference for experience in Science, Technology, Biotechnology, or Finance sectors, where mastery of complex, highstakes subject matter is required.
  • Nonnegotiable experience managing sophisticated events tailored for ultrahighnetworth, investor (VC/PE), and Csuite corporate audiences.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation communication skills, with a proven ability to interact credibly with toptier scientific, financial, and philanthropic leaders.
  • Proven track record of successful budget management for major events ($500k+).
  • High proficiency in event management software, CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce), and virtual event platforms.
  • The possession of a Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation or equivalent professional certification is highly considered an advantageous asset.

Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required to execute the event portfolio.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $165000$225000 per year based on experience, location, and qualifications.
