Job Summary:

Serve as a working Electrical Foreman – Lineman who both leads and works alongside crews installing, maintaining, and repairing overhead electrical-distribution systems. Plan daily work, assign tasks, secure materials, enforce safety, and personally perform skilled line work to keep projects on schedule, within budget, and in full compliance with company, OSHA, and utility-industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead, coach, and motivate journeyman linemen and apprentices; set expectations for safety, quality, and productivity.
• Interpret construction prints, staking sheets, and one-lines; lay out jobs, verify clearances, and locate underground/overhead utilities.
• Perform hands-on line work: framing and setting poles; stringing, sagging, and clipping conductor; installing transformers, arresters, switches, and associated hardware.
• Troubleshoot and isolate faults; coordinate and execute safe switching orders and energized (“hot-stick” or rubber-glove) work as required.
• Direct storm-response crews, assess damage, and restore service efficiently during outages and emergency callouts.
• Schedule equipment, materials, and subcontractors; coordinate with dispatchers, engineers, and clients to meet project milestones.
• Conduct daily job-hazard analyses (JHAs), tailboard briefings, and field audits; ensure compliance with NESC, OSHA 1910/1926, and company safety rules.
• Maintain accurate crew time sheets, material usage, as-built documentation, and incident reports; submit paperwork promptly.
• Support employee development through mentoring, skill evaluations, and recommending training or advancement.

Education:

• Completion of an accredited Journeyman Lineman apprenticeship program.
• OSHA 30-Hour Construction or equivalent safety credential (or willingness to obtain).
• Additional leadership or foremanship training preferred.

Experience:

• Minimum 5 years of overhead distribution experience, including hot-line work, with at least 1–2 years in a lead or foreman capacity.
• Demonstrated expertise in pole-top rescue, bucket rescue, and energized line maintenance.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities:

• In-depth knowledge of electrical theory, distribution equipment, clearance procedures, and switching protocols.
• Strong understanding of applicable codes and standards (NESC, NEC, OSHA, utility specifications).
• Proven ability to read and interpret construction drawings, schematics, and phasing diagrams.
• Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and decision-making skills under time-critical conditions.
• Effective written and verbal communication; able to interface professionally with clients, inspectors, and all levels of the organization.
• Competent computer skills for digital forms, maps, and work-management systems.
• Valid CDL-Class A (or ability to obtain) and clean driving record.
• High level of physical endurance, situational awareness, and commitment to safety leadership.

Work Location and Travel:

• Corporate office location is at 2730 Mine and Mill Road, Lakeland, FL, 33801
• Position requires travel to various job sites, often on short notice, including emergency and overnight assignments.
• Must be available to work varied hours including weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.

Work Environment:

• Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions including extreme heat, cold, wind, and rain.
• Frequent exposure to electrical hazards, moving machinery, and elevated work locations.
• Physically demanding environment that requires lifting, climbing, bending, and working in confined spaces.
• This is a full-time, non-exempt, safety-sensitive position.

Physical Requirements:

Talk/Hear: Must communicate clearly over radios and in-person with crew members, dispatchers, and customers, and remain alert to audible alarms, traffic, and equipment sounds.

Stand/Sit: Regularly stands while framing poles, operating bucket trucks, or performing ground-hand duties; sits in vehicles or bucket controls during travel and work positioning.

Walk: Frequently walks over uneven terrain, rights-of-way, and roadways to access pole lines and job sites.

Use hands/fingers to handle or feel: Constantly uses hands to operate handlines, hot sticks, crimpers, and small electrical components with precision and steadiness.

Climb: Routinely climbs wood poles using gaffs, ladders, or aerial devices to heights exceeding 50 feet.

Stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl: Regularly stoops or kneels to ground equipment, install hardware, or work in confined or low-clearance spaces.

See: Requires excellent near, far, and color vision to read phase markers, wire tags, prints, and to detect hazards aloft and at ground level.

Carry, weight, Lift: Frequently lifts, pulls, or carries conductors, crossarms, and equipment up to 50 pounds; heavier items handled with mechanical assistance.

Exposure to work: Works outdoors in extreme weather, around high-voltage electricity, heights, insects, and traffic; must stay vigilant and adhere to strict safety protocols to prevent injury to self and others.

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
