Overview Jeffrey Davis Portable Welding Fabrication LLC is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Structural Steel Detailer to produce accurate and professional shop drawings for structural steel projects. This full-time hybrid role is perfect for someone with strong AutoCAD experience, a background in structural steel design, and the ability to collaborate with both office and field teams. You'll play a critical role in ensuring the successful execution of our commercial welding and fabrication projects across the U.S. Key Responsibilities Create detailed shop drawings for structural steel buildings using AutoCAD. Interpret architectural and structural plans to produce accurate fabrication and erection drawings. Collaborate with project managers, fabricators, and welders to ensure design accuracy. Revise drawings based on field changes, RFIs, and feedback from contractors. Maintain design files and documentation for ongoing and completed projects. Ensure all drawings meet project specifications, industry standards, and safety requirements. Assist with estimating or material takeoffs when needed. Support continuous improvement in design processes and technologies. Qualifications Minimum 3 years of experience as a steel/detailing designer or in a related drafting/design role. Associate degree in drafting, design, engineering, or related field preferred. Proficiency with AutoCAD (company software provided). Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication and erection practices. Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings. Attention to detail with excellent problem-solving and organizational skills. Strong communication skills with the ability to work independently and in a team environment. Open to candidates with equivalent work experience in place of formal education.
