Job Description

American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg RN with WA or compact licensure and strong clinical experience for a 46-bed surgical unit.

Responsibilities

• Work in a hospital Med/Surg unit with 46 beds
• Patient population includes ESRD, dialysis, COPD exacerbation, GI bleed, pneumonia, COVID, UTI, CHF, altered mental status, ETOH, SBO, osteomyelitis, post-op, and end of life care
• Patient ratios are 1:4-5 on day shift and 1:5-6 on night shift
• 12-hour day shifts with every other weekend required
• Float as needed to other Med/Surg units
• Uses EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Omnicell for medication dispensing
• No on-call responsibilities
• Holiday coverage required as needed
• Comprehensive unit support includes CNA coverage, receptionist/HUC on day shift, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team (until 2300), hospitalist, and telemetry monitoring techs
• Charge nurse is without patient assignment on days and with partial assignment on nights
• EPIC training included in hospital orientation along with 1-2 preceptor-led shifts
• Assigned scrubs in any color are acceptable
• Free employee parking available
• Requests for time off must be communicated directly to nurse manager
• First-time travelers will be considered

Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg RN experience required; first-time travelers accepted with at least 2 years of experience
• Proficiency with G-tubes, trach care, chest tubes, and central lines
• Familiarity with EPIC EMR preferred
